I have worked as an Autism Practitioner for just over 10 years at Ridgepark House in Lanark. Ridgepark is a residential transition unit providing one-to-one support to young autistic adults to help maximise independence, social and living skills. I find working within this role extremely rewarding. I have also been actively involved in the Autism Practice Improvement Framework, APIF, within my service since its introduction 4 years ago. This has given me wonderful opportunities to present at conferences and knowledge share events and also has resulted in me becoming Scottish Autism’s Centre Coordinator for ASDANs ‘Preparing for Adulthood Programmes’. I have thoroughly enjoyed leading a fundraising initiative within my service over the last year and more recently have enjoyed volunteering at fundraising events organised by Scottish Autism.
